Then Manoah prayed to the Lord: “Pardon your servant, Lord. I beg you to let the man of God you sent to us come again to teach us how to bring up the boy who is to be born.” Judges 13:8
Regardless of who a person is, he must be willing to learn from someone else at some point in his life. No one grows up automatically knowing everything.
Many people, who grow up to be adults, automatically think they know how to do everything refuse to ask for help. This will often get them doing a job wrong and bringing on failure.
Manoah’s wife was told by an angel that they would have a son and he would be a leader of Israel. Manoah prayed, asking God to send the man of God to him again to teach them how to raise the boy.
God has given every person who chooses to believe in Him a task to do while on this earth. The basic line of this task is to be His witness and make disciples of Him.
For each believer, this will look a little different as to how his task is accomplished. There is no one way only, but many different ways to be a witness and make disciples depending upon the person and the situations he is in.
Many believers strike out on their own trying to be a witness or make disciples their own way without seeking the guidance of God. If God is not guiding the actions and words of the believer, the work will often fall short.
Instead of striving to be a witness and making disciples in his own way, every believer must be willing to seek God’s direction, asking for help. God is ready, willing and able to teach the believer how to do the job needed to be done.
God has a plan for you on how to do the work He wants you to do. It may be a simple or complex plan, but it is one that will work and will build His kingdom.
Do not allow pride to get in your way but be willing to humble yourself and ask God to teach and guide you in being His witness and disciple-maker. Study the Bible to see what it says about your situation and pray daily for His Holy Spirit to guide you.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know what God has called you to do; that you will seek God’s wisdom and direction in accomplishing His work for you to do; and that you will see favor and success in building God’s kingdom on a daily basis.
