Deuteronomy 11:18 Remember God’s Words

Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Deuteronomy 11:18

Remembering things that are important to a person is easy. It becomes a challenge to remember something when it is not as important.

There are many different types of tools to help people to remember something that is important: alarms on a phone, special apps, sticky notes, and more. Whatever is used to remind a person has to be in front of the person to be seen, otherwise things will be forgotten quickly.

Moses told the Israelites to fix the words he had spoken to them on to their hearts, minds and foreheads.

All throughout the Bible God tells His people many things on how to live for Him and what He expects of them. Since there are so many different things talked about, it is easy for a person to forget some of those things, especially in the busyness of day-to-day living.

Each day contains a thousand different things that a person must do or remember. Knowing which things to remember comes down to which things are the highest priority. While doing normal living is important, knowing and obeying God’s word is of highest priority. His word brings purpose here on earth and eternal life in the end.

Believers need to do whatever it takes to remember God’s word. It must be in front of their hearts and minds every moment of every day. Doing so will give the believer wisdom in how to deal with every situation, strength to make the right choices, and the ability to please God with his whole life.

Refusing to remember or forgetting God’s word will lead a person away from God into sin and death.

Every day you have many things that you must remember and accomplish. While many of those things may be important, the most important thing is to obey and live for God. The only way you can successfully know and live for God is to have His word bound to your heart and mind.

Read His word daily and memorize it. Make it a part of your life that cannot be separated by others or other things or tough situations. God’s word is alive and active and will change you, if you allow it to by making it a part of your daily life.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know God’s word for you; that you will remember what God has said; that you will live by God’s word; and that you will trust God’s word with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength.
