Then Moses said, “This is what the Lord has commanded you to do, so that the glory of the Lord may appear to you.” Leviticus 9:6
In order for certain things to occur, other specific things must happen first. Commands or directions are always given with a new item in order that it may work properly and accomplish the desired task.
Some speakers are willing to come and speak at an event if very specific actions are taken prior to arrival to speak. If the commands are not followed, the speaker will not be willing to speak.
After getting the tabernacle set up, Moses tells the people that these are the things God had commanded for them to do so that His glory may appear to them.
It is common for most people in a church to desire to have God’s presence show up in a service or even in their own lives. However, many of those same people are unwilling to listen to what God commands of them and do it. People want God to show up on their own terms as they desire.
The tabernacle and the priesthood that God set up through Moses was just a symbol of what was to come later. Instead of having a few individuals be priests and having to provide animal sacrifices, Jesus made all believers priests that can stand before God and offer sacrifices of the heart before God so that He may appear to them.
Some of the sacrifices that believers can do on a regular basis are prayer, reading God’s word, applying God’s word, sacrifice of time and effort to build His kingdom, turning away and repenting of sin, and more. As the believer follows God’s commands, God will show up in His life and do great works and wonders in and through him.
God wants His glory to appear to you and work in your life. He has given you some general commands as to how this can come about.
There are also some very specific commands to you as to what you must do for God and His kingdom. Seek God and His word to find out what God expects of you and commands you to do. Allow His Holy Spirit to guide you and strengthen you to do what He commands. Then expect His glory to show up in your life.
What is God commanding you to do today?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know what God commands you to do; that you will do what God has told you to do; and that you will see and know God’s glory in your life.
