Three cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms were on one branch, three on the next branch and the same for all six branches extending from the lampstand. Exodus 37:19
Lampstands have been made for thousands of years to hold lights ranging from candles and oil to electricity. Their purpose is shine forth the light into an area to illuminate it removing all darkness.
Every type of design imaginable has been used to make the lampstands. Most are done with just appearance in mind, while a few have actual purpose and meaning behind the design.
The lampstands to be used in the tabernacle had almond flowers with buds and blossoms on each branch of it. This occurred on all six branches of the stand.
Flower buds are the seeds of a flower. It is a sign that there can be life available if planted and watered correctly. When the bud is planted in the right type of soil there will come a day when it sprouts out and a flower blossom appears bringing joy to the one who planted it.
Light is something that expels all darkness and illuminates what is real.
Several thousand years after Moses had the lampstand made, Jesus told believers that they would be a light in this world. Believers are now a lampstand that shines forth the light of Jesus.
This light starts out as a bud, a little seed planted in the hearts and minds of people about the life Jesus offers them. Others water the seed and nourish it. Over time it begins to grow in the hearts and minds of the people, and many choose to believe in Jesus. They have a new life that blossoms as a beautiful flower into eternity.
Believers need to be a lampstand carrying the light and the bud and being a blossom in this dark world.
At some point someone planted a seed about Jesus into your life. Trusting it has grown and matured into a blossom today to shine the light of Jesus to this world, you now carry a new bud to plant into the life of someone else.
Do not smother out the light or hide the bud, but be willing to plant it and allow it to reproduce. You are a lampstand for Jesus to shine forth His light and make disciples of all men and women around the world.
Is your lamp shining and the bud blossoming?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will shine the light of Jesus in this world; that you will plant new seeds of Jesus in the hearts and minds of others; and that you will be a bright blossom of God’s love to this world.
