Exodus 25:2 Heart Prompted Giving

Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone who heart prompts them to give. Exodus 25:2

On a regular basis a person can receive many requests to give some amount of money to support a large variety of organizations. These can range from supporting some politician, to supporting some endangered animal, to supporting feeding children or the homeless and much more.

Some of these organizations push very hard to get someone to give, while others just mention it and back off. Many will give some, and some will give none.

As Moses is getting ready to have the tabernacle built, God tells him to tell the people that whoever’s heart prompts them to give, for them to bring an offering for the tabernacle.

The world and some churches work hard at making a person feel guilty if he does not give. Feelings of shame are pushed when one does not give at the same time many others are giving.

God does not want a person to give anything if it is not given from the heart. He loves a cheerful giver, one who wants to give.

When Jesus came to this earth, it was because God cheerfully gave Him. Jesus endured the cross with joy because He knew it would save people. Their giving was for a good cause and from Their heart.

Every believer will often be given many different opportunities to give. Each one must seek God as to which one to give to and how much, but the giving must be done from the heart, out of love for God and for others.

If it is given out of guilt or pressure or for recognition, it is better to not give. As one gives from the heart to the work of God, His kingdom will be built.

Opportunities for you to give will always be there. Take time to seek God’s direction as to what to give and who to give it to. Recognize the love God had for you when He sent His Son to die for you and pass that giving on to others.

He may lead you to give a little or a lot, but trust God with what to give as you give from your heart out of love for God and others. In this way you will work together with others to build His kingdom.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know what God has given you; that you will give to the Lord from a heart of love and a desire to give; and that you will give your life and possessions to God to be used by Him for His glory.
