He recovered all the goods and brought back his relative Lot and his possessions, together with the women and the other people. Genesis 14:16
Throughout history there have been many times when an enemy has gone into an area and stolen goods, people, even cities and land from someone else. Sometimes these can be just an individual taking from another individual, while other times it is nation taking from nation.
When this occurs, sometimes there are others who go in and take back what was stolen. Most often this is done by police forces, but it can be done by individuals also.
The king of Sodom had gone in a captured Lot, all of his people and took his possessions. Abram went and took back everything that was taken.
While Abram was dealing with physical stealing and taking back, there is a theft going on all over the world that is not always physical. There is a spiritual theft going on in the lives of many people, including believers.
Satan and the world want to take from people what God is giving them. God created this earth and everyone and everything on it to bring life and joy. Sin entered to destroy everything and take it away.
The ways of the world creep into the lives of people and steal what God has placed there. Joy is often turned into sorrow. Love is turned into hatred. Peace is changed to chaos. Forgiveness is turned into vengeance. Knowing the truth has become denying the truth.
Instead of allowing the enemy to keep those things, every believer must go into the enemy’s camp and take back what was stolen from himself and from others. He must stand upon God’s word that God has given these things and much more. Jesus came to give life, not death.
What has the enemy taken from your life that God has given you? These things could have been taken due to circumstances and hardships in your life causing you to look away from God and His gifts to the troubles.
Jesus won victory over death and sin and wants you to have that same victory. The enemy has no rights to you or your possessions, unless you give him the right. Go in with the power and strength of God’s Holy Spirit and recover what was stolen. Take it back, not only for yourself, but for others also. Take what God has given you.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know what God has given you; that God will strengthen you to take back all that the enemy has stolen; and that God will strengthen and protect you from the theft of the enemy.
