Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12
Everyday there are many different types of battles that people are going through. Each person has to decide which battles to fight and which battles to walk away from and ignore.
One of the most common battles is the fight for wealth. The world will fight to get as much for self as possible. It is often believed that with wealth a person can have everything that they need or want.
As Paul closes out his letter to Timothy, he tells him to fight the good fight of the faith. He is to hold onto what he has been given in confessing his faith in Jesus.
Having wealth helps a person out only for a short time. It gives temporary pleasures for a moment, then is gone. It is something that no one can take with them when they die, yet it deceives many by giving the appearance of great pleasure.
Faith in Jesus and the gift of eternal life is something that no one can take away. It is eternal, yet many believers have chosen to give it up, choosing to fight for wealth or other temporary pleasures of this life. They give it up seeking something that appears to be easier.
Following Jesus in faith is not an easy road to walk. Believers have been promised many troubles and trials. The world will do everything it can to stop a believer, so this is a fight for the believer.
Every believer who understands what God has in store for him, will be willing to lay down his life and fight the good fight of the faith to trust God and live for God.
The world will continue to offer you temporary pleasures. Do not allow yourself to be deceived and fight to gain those temporary and often deadly pleasures.
Grab a hold of the eternal life that Jesus has given you when He forgave you at the point you confessed your sins and faith in Him. Fight against the temptations of this world. Seek to live for God in every area of your life.
Fight the good fight of faith that you began when you chose to believe in Jesus. The rewards are eternal, not temporary.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know how God has called you to live your life; that God will strengthen you to not be deceived by the temporary pleasures of this world; that you will fight for the faith you have chosen to believe in and follow Jesus; and that the world will see your faith in God.
