Romans 2:5 Are You Storing Up God’s Wrath?

But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgement will be revealed. Romans 2:5

Freedom to choose is something that people all over the world love to have. Many throughout the world do not always get that freedom, but still desire it. They want to be able to do what they want, how they want, and when they want, with no fear of repercussion.

Some will make their own choices, hoping that there will be no problems with it. Not looking to the future chance of paying for their choice.

Paul reprimands the people for being stubborn and unrepentant. He says that by being that way, they are storing up God’s wrath against them when He returns to judge.

At the moment a person sins against God, he immediately has a judgement of death upon his head. It is the punishment that God must give out for sinning against Him.

Although God has that sentence upon a person, He also provided for a way to be forgiven and not be given that death sentence. All it takes is for a person to repent of the sin and trust in Jesus.

Many people have chosen to repent of their sins and begin believing in Jesus, but more have chosen not to repent. They are enjoying their sins and refuse to turn away from them. This is often occurring inside the church with people who claim to believe in Jesus.

The person who goes to church and claims to believe in Jesus, but refuses to repent is storing up God’s wrath against him. There will come a day when Jesus will return and it will be a day of reckoning that they will have to pay for those sins of rebellion against God.

If you have chosen to believe in Jesus, be sure to repent of your sins. This is not just saying you are sorry, but a turning away from those sins, refusing to sin anymore.

Allow God’s Holy Spirit to change your heart and give you strength to turn from sin. The moment you purposefully choose to continue to do a sin against God’s commands, you are rejecting Jesus and bringing upon you His wrath. He does not want to strike you, but will if you refuse to repent.

Do not be stubborn, but repent of your sins and turn from them.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will repent of any sins against God; that you will turn towards God from all sins; that you will flee the temptations to sin against God; and that you will know God’s love, forgiveness and restoration in your life.
