Acts 23:1 Did You Fulfill Your Duty?

Paul look straight at the Sanhedrin and said, “My brothers, I have fulfilled my duty to God in all good conscience to this day.” Acts 23:1

Having a duty or work to complete is something that most people have. Many have duty to do with their workplace, underneath an employer. All have some duty to do within their own home, city, state or nation.

Although most will complete their duty that is required of them, some try to skirt around the work and do as little as possible. Some will even completely skip doing the needed work.

As Paul was being tried in a court with the Sanhedrin, he tells them that he has fulfilled his duty to God with a clear conscience.

It is easy for most people to do the needed work when the boss is standing right over them watching it get done. It is often much more difficult to complete the work, when the boss is not watching. People like the easiest way out.

Although believers know that God is right there and watching, many times they do not fully believe it and feel as if they can get by with not doing the needed work. God has called every believer to be a witness, at a minimum. Not only has He called people to be a witness, He calls them to physically help others.

Every believer has taken the step of believing in Jesus, but many have stopped there. They don’t fulfill their duty to God by being a witness or helping hand to others. It is commonly left up to the pastor, elders or someone else to be that witness.

Instead of shirking the work needed to be done, every believer must be willing to do God’s work on this earth as best as he can.

As a believer, God has a duty for you to fulfill on this earth. As long as you are alive, there is still work to be done.

Every day you get up, seek to find out and do what God has for you to do that day. Work for God in such a way that you can say you fulfilled your duty to God that day with a clear conscience.

Do not hold back anything from doing what God has called you to do.

Did you fulfill your duty to God today?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the work God has for you to do; that you will do the work that God has for you to do; that God will build His kingdom through you; and that God will be able to say that you have done well as a good and faithful servant.
