Revelation 1:8 He Just IS

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:8

Throughout the history of the earth there have been people who thought that they were the most important. Some would act as if they had absolute power over everything and everyone. Others would act as though they are the best at what they do.

Regardless of how much they did, every one of them had eventually died. They only existed for a short time in light of history.

As John opens his letter of revelation of what God shows him, he quotes God. God says that He is the Alpha and Omega and that He always was and always will be.

With the finite mind of mankind, people try to put God in a box. They cannot comprehend that God always was and will continue to always be. With God saying that He is the Alpha and Omega, He is saying that He was at the beginning to start everything, and that He will be at the end to end it all.

Although this is beyond full comprehension of people, it can give the believer a comfort and peace beyond anything this world can offer.

In knowing that God was at the beginning and started everything, can give the believer a peace that God has a purpose for his life. He can see order in everything, rather than just chaos or random chance, as the world sees it.

Along with knowing the beginning, he can also know that God will be at the end, Jesus will return. There is an eternal life to look forward to after all of the momentary struggles this life on earth offers.

Knowing who God is can give the believer strength, hope, peace and comfort during this troublesome life on earth.

As you are going through your days, you may wonder why you are here or who is in control. Step back a moment and realize who God is. Notice that He is and always was and always will be.

God created you with an eternal purpose that starts here on earth in this life and goes into eternity. He started everything and will end it all at the right time.

Trust God with your whole life and see what He can and will do in you and with you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know who God is; that you will know that God is in complete control; that you will know the peace God provides; and that you will know what God has for you to do with your short life on this earth.

  1. From this article you want people to believe God can do everything, but in some other articles you claim Jesus to be God, whilst that man of flesh and blood who was seen by many (though man can not see God and live) himself declares that he can not do anything without God and even does not know lots of things because it is only given to God to know all things. In case Jesus is God he then would be a liar, because then he (as God) would know everything. Holding back the truth is considered not being honest, though honesty is one of the characters of God.

    • Thank you for reading and your reply.

Please look at my other comments to answer according to verses in the Bible. You appear to look at some verses without considering what others say. Yes, I believe that God came down in flesh as Jesus. He is the exact, perfect image of the invisible God.

Jesus said He does nothing without the Father’s approval. All that means is that He gives the Father complete authority and puts aside His own authority and Godhead while He walked upon the earth.

Have a blessed day in our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.

      • If Jesus is God than he is God the Father and as such has all the authority of the Father … this also in regards of the Bible telling us that God is always the same … though that would not be when Jesus is God, because God knows everything whilst Jesus does not know everything and had everything to learn. The Bible also tells us that man can not see God, but it lets us know that many saw Jesus. (Then those people not falling dead, makes the words of God not true.)
