I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33
Each and nearly every day, people have some sort of trouble or problem in their lives. For most people their day to day troubles are often small. Small troubles such as being behind a slow person on the road, deciding which meal to make, choosing what to wear, or some other small choice.
For many others, their troubles can be gigantic, such as car breaking down, finding food to be able to eat, finding a place to sleep, health issues or more.
Jesus promised the disciples that they would have trouble. He also told them they could have peace in spite of the troubles because He had overcome the world.
Some believers often believe that when they began to follow Jesus that all of their troubles would go away. They believed that God would remove all trouble in this life.
In believing this way, many get discouraged and angry with God when they have to face many troubles. In reality when one becomes a believer, the troubles often double. They have all the normal troubles of life that most people have, plus they have persecution troubles.
Despite all of these troubles, the believer can have a supernatural peace. This peace comes from knowing that Jesus had already told about these troubles and that He has already overcome them and the world.
Despite all of the troubles, the believer can know that God loves him, forgiven him and will save him in the end. When all is said and done, there is eternity with God to look forward to. This brings a peace that the world cannot know or understand.
Each and every day you will face struggles and problems that appear to be huge, unsurmountable mountains. Keep in mind that Jesus had said this would be the case. However, also keep in mind that Jesus also promised peace in the midst of all those troubles.
Keep your focus upon God and what He is doing, not the troubles that this world will throw your way. God will bring you through every trouble that you will face. No trouble is greater than God’s power. Hold onto the peace of knowing that Jesus has already overcome your troubles.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know God is in control; that you will know God’s power; that you will know God’s saving power; and that you will have God’s supernatural peace.
