John 2:5 Do Whatever He Says To Do

His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” John 2:5

Being told what to do is one thing many people do not like to have occur. Most people like to be able to make their own choices, to control their own destiny.

It is very common to hear of a person losing his job because he refused to do what he was told to do. He tries to work in his own way, rather than follow company policies and procedures. People often think that they, the individual, knows what is best, rather than trust those who have already walked that path and do know what is best.

Jesus was at a wedding that had run out of wine to drink. Jesus’ mother approaches Him about it, but does nothing, at first. His mother tells the servants to just do whatever He tells them to do.

The moment a person chooses to become a believer, a follower of Christ, he gives up his personal choices. At that moment he is to make Jesus Lord, the chief boss, over his entire life.

In order for Jesus to be Lord/Master, He must be obeyed implicitly. There is no room for question, doubt or refusal to obey, regardless of how crazy something may sound or be.

God, being the Creator of everything, does actually know what is best for each and every person in each and every situation. In knowing what is best, there will be times that God will tell someone to do something that sounds insane, such as telling the servants to serve water at a wedding as though it was wine.

When the believer actually trusts God and does what he is told to do, it opens the door wide for God to do what only He can do. It allows God to do miracles and change lives and situations.

There will be times in your life when God will ask you to step out and does some crazy, insane, even dangerous thing. Rather than turning the other way and ignoring God, do what He is telling you to do.

Never allow yourself to shirk back in fear or doubt. Boldly go forward, knowing that God is in control and knows what He is doing in asking you to do something. God has a plan for your life.

Ask yourself if you are willing to do whatever He asks you to do.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will hear God’s voice guiding you in what to do; that you will do whatever God asks you to do; and that you will see God do great things in and through you.
