Matthew 28:20 It Is All About Obedience

and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:20

Every organization or place that a person goes, there will always be some set of rules or regulations that he must obey and follow. These rules and regulations are set in place to create order and to protect everyone involved in various ways.

If there are no rules or regulations, then there is only chaos and problems. No one would know what is expected of them and would just do their own thing.

As Jesus was getting ready to leave the earth, He gave some last minute instructions to the disciples. They were to go and make disciples and teach them to obey everything He had commanded.

One of the great teachings that is always taught in churches is that God loves everyone and has grace for all, while ignoring teaching obedience. As soon as one talks about obeying the commands of Jesus, many take offense saying that to talk like that is to be legalistic. While this can be true, it does not have to be that way.

Jesus did say that if one loves Him, he would obey Him. He gave many commands on how live life on this earth. Most were about how to live with other people and the rest were how to serve God. All of His commands fall under loving others and loving God. Doing these two things will bring peace and order to a chaotic world.

As a believer disciples another believer, he must never forget to teach obeying all that Jesus commanded. It is not just about God’s love and grace, but about how a believer must live for and obey God. As believers obey the commands of Jesus, God’s desire will be done on this earth.

Every day you will have opportunities to talk about Jesus with others. Some will be unbelievers who need to hear about who Jesus is. Others will be believers who need to be taught and encouraged in what Jesus said and commanded.

Do not ignore His commands and only focus on His grace, mercy and forgiveness. Be willing to talk about the commands of Jesus. Teach how He gave rules and guidelines on how to really love others and really love God. And as you do this, He will always be with you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the commands of Jesus; that you will obey all of God’s commands; that you will teach all of God’s commands; and that you will know God’s presence in your life.
