Isaiah 22:12-13 Partying Instead Of Weeping

Party in a dark room

The Lord, the Lord Almighty, called you on that day to weep and to wail, to tear out your hair and put on sackcloth. But see, there is joy and revelry, slaughtering of cattle and killing of sheep, eating of meat and drinking of wine! “Let us eat and drink,” you say, “for tomorrow we die!” Isaiah 22:12-13

The world likes to party and have fun. Many see this life as temporary so they feel that they must have fun while it lasts. Enjoyment in the here and now takes place over everything else.

As things in this world are getting worse, many are ignoring it and living their life as though nothing is wrong. Going out and having a good time is the focus of most people.

In the prophecy against Jerusalem, Isaiah points out that God had called them to weep and wail for what was happening, the destruction that was coming. Yet, instead of following God’s command, they partied.

People of this world are on a slope, slipping down into destruction. They are living in sin and enjoy it. Sadly, there are many in the church that are living in the same way. Many claim to serve God, but are not doing what He has called them to do, nor are they turning away from sin.

Though this is happening, the church has closed its eyes to death and destruction that is coming. They are forgetting that Jesus will return to judge every person.

Weeping and wailing should be occurring over the lives of people who refuse to follow Jesus. Every effort should be made to be His witness and draw people to Him. Individuals should be weeping and wailing over their own sins and striving to live a holy life before God.

Jesus has already paid the price for sins. One should not trample upon His grace, but live for Him.

Each day you have a choice as to how you will live. If you will allow God to open your eyes to see, you will see a field ready for harvest, but one that if not harvested will be destroyed.

Do not allow yourself to be focused on just enjoying life and having a good time, but focus on building His kingdom. Build His kingdom in your own life and here on this earth in the lives of others.

Devote your life to live for God and serve Him, rather than just party and head for destruction.

I pray today that you will know the salvation of Jesus; that you will share the love of God with others; that you will warn of God’s coming judgment; and that you will live your life for God and not self gratification.
