Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world. Isaiah 12:6
Singing is something that people will do to share what is on their heart. It can be sharing a sadness, an anger or a great joy. It can have a powerful impact upon those who are listening, because it is something that is from the inner heart.
When someone is having extreme joy about something, they can burst into song about it. Some may come up with their own words, while many will sing a song that says what they are thinking or feeling at the moment.
The singing heard in musicals is what drives the story along. It brings in every type of emotion available. It can set the mood of the situation or destroy it.
Isaiah tells the people to sing to the Lord. The purpose of this singing is because of what He has already done and to let the world know what He has done.
Every believer has at least one thing that they can burst into singing about. One thing that is so great that they should not be quiet about it. That is their salvation, their forgiveness of sins.
No one deserved anything from God but death. Yet, God chose not to give death, but to pay the price for sins and to give life. This alone is enough to cause one to burst into singing and shouting for joy as though he had won the million dollar lottery.
Along with salvation and forgiveness of sins, God has also done many other things, if a person takes a moment to think of them. All these things are what the world needs to hear. It is being His witness. When the world hears one singing with joy, they will stop to listen, because they do not have that joy, they do not know the joy of salvation.
Take some time to think about what God has done for you. Think about the salvation God has given you. Think about the other blessings God has provided you in the middle of toil and suffering.
Allow these things to bubble up in your heart and burst forth in singing songs of praise and joy to God so that they whole world may hear about it. Do not hide these things in your heart, but sing it out and allow others to hear and know of God’s great deeds in your life.
I pray today that you will know the joy of God’s salvation provided to you; that you will know what God has done for you; that God will place a song of praise on your heart; and that you will sing of God’s glory and power to this world.
