He says to himself, “God will never notice; he covers his face and never sees.” Psalm 10:11
When a person is alone, he usually thinks that no one can see him. There does not appear to be any eyes watching anything that he does. With this type of thinking, a person can do what he wants with no fear of being caught or told he is wrong.
It is commonly thought that if a person does not get caught, he did nothing wrong. It is only when one is caught that he becomes wrong in what he did.
David talks about those who refuse to follow God and describes them and what they are like. He points out that they believe that God never sees what they are doing, that He covers His eyes to their evil deeds.
The world often acts like a little child playing a game of hide and seek. The child will cover his eyes and state that the other person cannot see him. The child believes that because he cannot see the other person, that person cannot see him.
God is invisible to the human eye, so no man can see him. The world acts as though God has His eyes covered, even though in reality, it is their eyes that are being covered.
Some believers tend to act in the same way. While in a secret place, alone, they will think and do things that are against God. Since they do not see God and no one else is watching, they feel that they are getting away with sin.
However, God does see everything that is happening, including the thoughts of the heart, that no man can see. God does not cover His eyes to sin. He may not do anything in the immediate about it, but He sees it and will deal with it before all is done. Judgement will come eventually.
Take a look at your own life and see what you may be trying to cover up in it. What are you doing in secret or in the heart that you think that God may not be seeing?
Do not allow yourself to deceive yourself into thinking that God does not see what you are doing. God does see. However, God does not want to condemn you. He wants to draw you to Himself and forgive you.
Turn towards God and seek forgiveness and then strive to live for Him. Live as though He is watching, because He is.
I pray today that you will know God’s presence in your life; that you will know God’s love for you; that you will know God’s forgiveness; and that God will help you to keep from you being deceived by your own self.
I love this. I did a study on omniscience a few years ago, and I realized that we have turned it into an abstract concept—but in the Bible it is very concrete. God sees and hears, here and now. What a comfort to the pray-er, and what a warning to the sinner!
Yes it is a comfort and a warning. Thank you for reading and the comfort. Have a blessed day!
Enjoyed your post! You are correct as the bible states the eyes of the Lord go throughout the entire world observing Good and Evil (proverbs 15:3 -paraphrased) and God knows our thoughts before we think them according to Psalm 139
