Esther 9:28 Remember What God Did

These days should be remembered and observed in every generation by every family, and in every province and in every city. And these days of Purim should never fail to be celebrated by the Jews–nor should the memory of these days die out among their descendants. Esther 9:28

People celebrate many different things each year. They celebrate to remember something good that has occurred or is occurring. The level of celebration and why they celebrate can be different from person to person. Each person has his own reasons to celebrate and can celebrate in his own way.

Without doing the continual celebration, it is easy for people to forget about something that has happened. They begin to move on past the good things that happened and only focus on the present.

The Israelites had been threatened extinction while they were under Persian control. Through being deceived the king of Persia had allowed an order to be given to destroy the Israelites. Once he found out that he had been deceived, he gave another order to protect the Israelites. The people had been able to protect themselves and thrived.

With this great victory, they began a celebration called ‘Purim’ to remember and celebrate what God had done for them. They were to never forget what had happened.

Going through life, there is often a lot of bad things that occur. If a person is not careful, those are the only things he remembers and gets discouraged. He forgets to see God’s hand in his life.

Although full celebrations do not need to occur, every believer must take time to remember and celebrate what God has done in his life. This keeps the focus on God and helps him to see how faithful God was and how faithful He will continue to be.

Take a moment and think back on what God has brought you through. What victories have you seen in your life?

Now take a moment to celebrate that victory or provision. This is giving God the glory for what He has done. It also is a great reminder to you that God will continue to be faithful in taking care of you.

Do not allow yourself to forget what God has done in your life. When you begin to forget, the trials of this life will begin to overwhelm you and crush you. When you celebrate what God has done, you will know that God will bring you through the next trial in life.

I pray today that you will remember all that God has done for you; that you will celebrate what God has done; that you will know God’s faithfulness in your life; and that you will trust God in every situation.
