Esther 6:11 Honor May Come Later

So Haman got the robe and the horse. He robed Mordecai and led him on horseback through the city streets, proclaiming before him, “This is what is done for the man the king delights to honor!” Esther 6:11

It is common for someone to do something good, but no one recognizes the good being done. It is done in silence, though in public. Since this happens so often, there are some people who get angry and no longer want to do good. They get bitter because they were not honored or recognized right away.

People love to get recognized for what they did. Getting recognized gives them a personal reason for what they did. It is as though the action is now important.

At some point Mordecai had revealed a plot against the king to the king. He had saved the king, yet nothing was done about. He did not receive any recognition. Years later, the king came across the records and found out what Mordecai had done. Immediately he had Mordecai honored. Not only was Mordecai honored greatly, but it was done by his mortal enemy, who was out to kill him and many Israelites–Haman.

Doing good things often goes unrecognized. Most do not take time to honor someone for doing something good. It is as though no one cares. However, God sees what is going on at all times.

With God seeing the good being done, He is in the process of honoring that person. The honor may show up in this life, as with Mordecai, or it may show up in heaven, when God says ‘well done, good and faithful servant’.

The timing of being honored should never dictated whether a person does something good or not. Good should be done out of love for God and for all people.

There may be things that you have done in your past that were very good and no one appeared to even notice that you did them. Do not allow yourself to be bitter over the lack of recognition. God has seen all that you have done. Give Him praise for allowing you to do that good, and trust Him to do what is best.

God, in His perfect timing, will give honor when it is due, at the perfect time. In the end He will lift you up before your mortal enemies and honor you with eternal life. Be patient for the honor to come and still do more good.

I pray today that you will do the good God has for you to do; that you will trust in God’s timing; that you will do things to please God and not man or self; and that you will give God praise for all honor given to you.
