Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. Deuteronomy 30:11

Following commands can sometimes be very difficult and complex. There are times when the directions are extremely complex. There are a thousand different steps, each depending upon the ones before. If any one of the steps is missed at all, it throws the entire process of completely.

For many people, computer programming is a complex process that is out of reach for them. There are a thousand commands to be written down, in order for the program to work. If any one of the commands has a misspelling or wrong mark in it, the program will not work properly. Knowing each of the commands to right is difficult. It takes a lot of work and training to be able to do it.

Moses had been telling the Israelites all of the commands of God. As he is finishing up, he tells the people who what he is telling them is not too difficult or out of reach. It is something that they can do.

There have been people who have looked at Christianity and said it was too difficult to do. They see many of the rules of do’s and don’ts that they are scared off. They feel it is impossible to do.

However, the commands of God are not that difficult. All of the commands of God come down to two very basic and simple commands–love God and love everyone else. Even those two get more basic–love. When everyone is loving, they will not do anything to harm anyone else, including God.

Once a believer can get this simple concept down, of loving God and loving others, all the rest of the commands of God become easy. Following these commands does not get one into heaven, but it makes the trip easier to make. Only by the blood of Jesus is a person saved, but with being saved, one can love.

If you are overwhelmed by all the commands of God, take a look at what they all come down to. Focus your life back onto the basics of loving God and loving others. Love as Jesus loved you. He gave up His life so that you may live. Be willing to give up yourself so that God can be glorified and others may be lived.

Loving God is not that difficult. You can do it with Jesus!

I pray today that you will know what Jesus has done for you; that you will know the love of God in your life; that you will learn to love God with all of your heart; that God will strengthen you to love others as He has loved you; and that you will obey God with your whole life.
