Acts 10:2 More Than Just Believing In God

He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. Acts 10:2

Cornelius was a Roman centurion, a soldier in the Roman army. He had a strong belief in God, yet he knew there was something more than just believing in God. God gave him a vision to meet with Peter.

Peter had to be shown by God, that even the pagan Romans can follow Jesus. So he tells Cornelius about Jesus and he begins to follow Jesus.

People often look at certain other people and judge them as to whether they can follow Jesus or not. Groups of people in certain neighborhoods are looked down upon by many in the church as though they are hopeless and cannot have a belief in Jesus. They are looked at as gangsters, thugs, worthless people with no hope at all.

Others will look at whole nations as pagans and hopeless. They do not believe that the people of that nation could ever believe in Jesus. This is especially true of devout Muslim, Buddhist, and Hindu nations.

Yet, in every group of people or nation, there is hope for every person to believe in Jesus. Often the people are not given the chance to believe in Jesus. They have not been told about Him and the need for Him.

Believers go to church every Sunday and worship God with those they know and who already believe in Jesus, but they do not step outside the four walls of the church to tell others about Him. They are afraid, or they believe, that the ‘other’ people would not accept Jesus, so they don’t tell anyone.

Peter had to be convinced by God that Cornelius could be saved. Christians today often need to be convinced by God that everyone needs a chance to be saved. No matter how bad or good a person is, he needs to know Jesus.

In your life, take a look around you. Who have you avoided telling about Jesus out of fear, or pre-judgment?

Give everyone a chance to know about Jesus, whether they are good or bad. Salvation is for every person, not just certain people. Do not ignore anyone or leave anyone without telling them about Jesus.

Jesus came to save everyone. Will you allow Him to save everyone?

Who can you tell about Jesus today?

I pray today that you will know the salvation that Jesus brings you; that you will tell everyone you meet about Jesus; that you will not prejudge anyone against telling them about Jesus; and that you will not fear telling people about Jesus.
