“Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.” 1 Peter 2:12
Peter now tells you to live a good life, in fact such a good life that it stands out. This “good life” is not the American Dream life–having a big house, 2 great cars, a big bank account and a great job. It is a holy, righteous life.
Previously Peter talked about how you are to be holy as God is holy. Now he puts this into real life. If you are being holy as God is holy, you will not hurt your neighbor; you will not be jealous or envious; you will not be selfish; and you will not show any hate. You should be living such a holy life of loving others and caring for others that nothing bad can be proved about you.
When Jesus was brought before the courts the people accused Him of many things. The interesting thing was that none of those accusations could be proven. They were false accusations.
Already in America and around the world Christians are often accused of doing wrong. Currently it is common to hear that Christians preach hate sermons because they stand against sinful acts. Do not let your speech be filled with hate. Let your speech be filled with love and compassion for the lost. God does not want anyone to be lost. You should feel the same way.
God drew you to Him by His love for you. Remember He first loved you. You also should love everyone else with His love. Yes, you may speak against sin, but temper that with the love and sacrifice of Jesus.
Living your life in this way will bring glory to God someday. Even the world will realize how holy you are living. Even though the world may deny Jesus, they cannot deny the change and good character it makes a person to be.
I pray that today God will help you to live a holy life; that God will help you to do good deeds everywhere you go; that God will fill you with His love and compassion for the lost; and that God will protect you in all false accusations.
