Hebrews 13:6 No Fear

“So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Hebrews 13:6

The author just finished telling you to be free from the love of money and that God will never leave nor forsake you. Now he shows you the confidence you can have in God. God is your helper.

How does God help you? The greatest help is in His providing salvation for you. He provides a reason for living, giving you purpose in this life. He provides for every need that you have. He provides guidance and direction. He provides joy. He provides compassion, kindness, love and everything else you need in life for all eternity.

The main thing each person must do is see God’s provision. Often people expect God to meet their needs in a very specific way and when God does not meet those needs that way they feel God let them down. You have to trust that God sees the big picture and knows what is the best thing for you every time. You do not have to be afraid of not making it or failing in the end if you are trusting God completely.

Then the question of what can mortals do is asked. As hard as it is to believe, the “worst” that man can do is kill your body, man cannot kill your soul. As humans though we often hate the persecution and pain caused by other humans. You have to leave your body and soul in the hand of God. Realize that if someone kills you, you get to go to heaven and get a new perfect body with no more pain or suffering.

Today seek God for all of your needs. Trust that He is aware of all you are going through. Do not be afraid of anyone or anything. Let God guide your every step in life.

I pray that today God will remove all fear in you; that God will strengthen you; that you will hear God’s guidance; and that you will have all confidence in God.
