Psalm 70:4 Rejoicing While Waiting

But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who long for your saving help always say, “The Lord is great!” Psalm 70:4

Waiting is something that most people do not like to do. Things cannot move fast enough for many people. They want things to be done quickly on their own time frame.

It does not matter how fast something is, it can be faster, or rather, it must be faster. The cashier is too slow, the computer is too slow, the traffic is too slow and much more. People are always complaining about how long something takes.

The level of complaint increases when what is slow is the provision of help in a time of need. During a crisis, nothing can move fast enough. Then people just complain.

David knew that there were people who were in need of God’s help and were waiting for His help in their lives. He encourages all that are waiting for God’s help to praise Him and remember that He is great.

While the world is waiting on physical things in this world, believers are also waiting on God. They are waiting on God to answer their many prayers. Some of those prayers are for desperate measures. Life is difficult and without God’s intervention it will be even worse.

Yet, as they pray, God does not seem to hear or do anything about the situation. Many believers then begin to complain, just as the world does. They get angry with God for not meeting their need, in their time.

The focus needs to shift and remember that God is GREAT. He knows the perfect time and the perfect action to deal with the situation in the believer’s life. One needs to wait for His provision, His salvation to arrive. While waiting one can praise God for who He is.

You are probably waiting for God to answer some prayers of your right now that you have been seeking an answer to for some time. Do not give up on those prayers. Continue to believe God will answer those prayer needs.

As you are praying and waiting, rejoice that God hears you. Praise God for all the prayers He has already answered in your life. Don’t lose hope in God and the salvation that He has promised, it will come at the right time.

Don’t forget that God is GREAT, even while you are waiting in desperation for an answer from Him.

I pray today that you will know God’s hand of provision; that you will know the hope you have in Jesus; that you will rejoice in what God has already done for you; and that you will praise God while waiting for His answers.

Psalm 54:4 What Keeps You Going?

Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me. Psalm 54:4

In order to keep moving forward a person needs something to sustain him. The basics that every person on this earth needs are: food, water, shelter, and clothing. Without these things at a minimum he cannot keep going forward.

Beyond those basics one also needs some motivation to keep moving forward, especially during a difficult time in life. There has to be a reason to want to keep pushing forward and not give up. Many people call it quits when the going gets tough and some will even end it all if the struggle becomes too much.

Wealth, position, fame, and power are some reasons that keep many people moving forward. They hold on to the hope of these things to come or in their life to go through tough times. However, each of these things can and will fail in the end.

As David was being chased by his enemies, he was also being betrayed by a close friend. Instead of giving up, he holds on to the hope that God is his help and will sustain him, keeping him moving forward despite the challenges.

Instead of looking to the temporary things that the world seeks for sustenance, such as wealth, fame, and position, believers look to God to keep them going. He is the one who provides everything that is needed.

Along with providing food and water, God also provides a hope that is eternal. There is a reason for going through the struggles in this life that makes it all worth it in the end. This can also provide a joy and a peace that passes understanding.

These are the things that give a person strength to keep going forward when the world is fighting against him. They are internal and eternal motivations, rather than temporary and external as the world has.

Look to God for what you need to keep moving forward. You are on a path towards becoming more like Jesus every day. You are on the path God has set before you to get into heaven.

The greatest motivation you can have is knowing that God loves you and has great things in store for you some day in heaven. Don’t give up and get discouraged and want to quit. Keep moving forward.

Allow God’s love and strength and hope He provides to sustain you during the tough times in this life.

I pray today that you will know the hope you have in Jesus; that you will trust in God’s provision for your life; that you will know God will help you in every situation; and that God will strengthen you to keep moving forward in His will.

Psalm 33:20 Waiting In Hope

Waiting patiently

We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. Psalm 33:20

The world is always seeking how to make things better. Doctors and scientist are spending billions of dollars searching for ways to bring about cures to various sicknesses. Others are fighting for ways to clean up the environment to save nature and mankind.

Challenges in this world are so great that many do not have much hope. They cannot see any real solutions to most of the problems that are being faced. Death and sickness is so great that people cannot see around the problems and want to give up. They have no joy in their lives because they no longer have any hope.

David knows that there is a hope that the world does not know of. His hope was in the Lord. It is only God who can help and be the needed shield.

Believers are not any less susceptible to problems and challenges in life than the rest of the world. Every day they face many of the same problems that non-believers face.

The difference between the believer and the non-believer is that the believer has a hope that is real. This is not a hope, like ‘I hope this will happen’, but a hope that says, ‘I KNOW this WILL happen’. Every believer know that Jesus and the Father are true to their word. They will do what they said they will do.

Two of the things God said He would do is be the needed help and shield for those who put their trust in Him. God helps the believer by removing the situation or giving him strength to make it through the situation. He puts a hedge of protection around the believer protecting him from being destroyed spiritually. His salvation is secure and for eternity, unless one gives it up.

While these things may not have occurred yet, the believer knows that they will happen in God’s time.

You also can have this assurance in God. God has never failed yet and he will not start now with you. He will always be there to help you in your time of need. God will help you in the best way possible for eternity, regardless of how it looks in the here and now.

As you put your trust in Jesus, He will shield you from losing the salvation He has given to you and that you have accepted.

Rejoice and keep waiting on the Lord.

I pray today that you will know the salvation Jesus provides; that you know the hope you can have in God; that you will know the help God provides you; that you will see God’s shield in your life; and that you will rejoice in God.
