Psalm 61:1 Calling On God

Banff Park

Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. Psalm 61:1

Being heard is something that most people desire of others. When someone has something to say, he wants others to hear what it is he has to say. What is being said can change from time to time. One time it is information, while the next time it is a request.

Regardless of what the person has to say, he wants to be heard.

However, in order for a person to be heard, he must speak up. He must let his voice and desires be made known, so that others can hear it. If he does not speak up, no one will know what he has to say.

The method of speaking up can be one of many different ways. It can be in person, on a phone, video chat, social media, written words, or one of many other ways.

David wants to be heard from God. He had been dealing with some troubling times and so he cried out to God. David spoke to God through prayer to tell God something.

Prayer is just calling on God, talking to God. Unlike trying to talk to someone on this earth, God is always available and can always hear a person speak. There is no waiting time for God to get the message, it is always instant.

There are many believers who wish or hope that God would do something in a situation, but don’t take the time to talk to God about it. They do not call out to God.

Some do not believe that God hears them or even will acknowledge them. They feel as if they are a nobody or their situation is not ‘important’ enough for God to take the time to listen.

God is always waiting to hear from His children. All one has to do is talk–pray.

Every time that you take a moment to talk with God, He is listening. This is prayer. It does not have to be something complex or long, but can be very short and simple. God will hear your prayer.

However, in order for Him to hear you, you must talk to Him. Call out to Him with everything on your heart. This can be in times of rejoicing or in times of need. God wants to hear it all.

Take time to talk to God today. Let Him know what is on your heart and mind. He is listening.

I pray today that you will talk to God daily; that you will know God hears you; that you will know God loves you; that you will not fear bringing any thought to God; and that you will go to God first in every situation.
