Genesis 46:4 God Will Complete His Promise

I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again. And Joseph’s own hand will close your eyes. Genesis 46:4

Promises are made daily by people, governments and businesses. Although thousands are made, many are left unfulfilled.

People, governments and businesses often let people down in what was promised. Excuses are made as to why the promise could not be completed. Things are allowed to get in the way and stop them.

As a result, many people begin to doubt others when they hear of a promise being made. They have been disappointed too many times.

God tells Israel (Jacob) that He would go with him to Egypt and bring him back to the promised land.

Following God on a journey is often filled with what appears to be detours. The new believer sees that he is headed towards heaven, the promised land, but while on this earth there are various challenges and changes put in the pathway.

The believer may hear God promise something in his life, such as provision, but then on the journey has times where the path has taken a different direction and does not appear to provide, even though he has all that he needs.

Some may feel called into ministry but have to work for a number of years outside of ministry prior to getting into it.

One thing that every believer needs to remember is that God will fulfill His promise. He may take one on a journey that appears to be going the wrong direction, to Egypt, but He will get him to the final promised land.

As one is going on the little detours in life, he must realize that God is building him up to be ready for the promise. He may also be preparing the promise to be taken by the one who trusts and believes in Him.

Do not lose heart and get discouraged when God has you turn on a detour in your life. Continue to remember the promises of God, knowing that He will fulfill them in the right time.

During this detour He may be preparing you for the promise or fulfilling another promise to someone else through you. Allow God to be in control of your life.

It may take a lifetime before the promise is fulfilled, but it will happen. God has never broken a promise and will not start with you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the promises of God to you; that you will trust God’s promises to you; that you will walk the path God has for you; and that you will allow God to be in complete control of your journey in this life.
