Revelation 6:17 God’s Wrath Will Come

For the great day of his wrath has come, and who can withstand it? Revelation 6:17

One thing that no one really wants to see is the wrath of someone else. Most people are willing to do what it takes to please others to avoid their extreme anger.

Criminals often see the wrath of the police officer or judge come upon them when they are caught. After they have seen this once, some will choose to never commit the crime again out of fear of that wrath and harsh judgement. They crumble under the wrath.

John describes a future day in which God pours out His wrath on the earth against sin, killing many people. As this occurs people are in fear and wonder who can withstand His great anger.

It is common to hear many people say that God is love and will never get angry. Others will question how a good God of love could ever punish or pour out wrath upon anyone for any reason. They feel that if this is true, then they don’t want a part of Him and continue to live in sin.

God is love. He is also very patient. However, God is also holy and just. There will come a day when every person will be judged for their acts of sin. The beginning of this judgement will be poured out across the earth prior to the eternal judgement.

Inside the church there are also people who are like the world in that they don’t believe God will judge them harshly. They do not fear the judgement that will come some day.

If the judgement of a police officer, judge or some other person can be harsh, the judgement of a loving God who sent His Son to give His life so that one may live and be forgiven of sin, will be much more harsh.

Jesus has given His life for you and is willing to forgive you of all your sins. Accept this and turn from all sinful ways to follow God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength.

Know that if you choose to continue to live in sin and not repent, then there will come a day in which God will judge you. His wrath will be poured out upon you and you will not survive it.

God loves you and wants you to live and not judge you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will allow Jesus to forgive you of all your sins; that you will allow God to give you strength to turn from all sins; and that you will never have to see the wrath of God upon your life.

      1. I think you have a wrong understanding of God and man’s depravity. This notion of allowing God to save someone denies that God is a savior who saves. He doesn’t just make men savable.

      2. I am not sure if I agree with you. I am willing to continue to discuss this if you choose to send me an email. Thank you.
