John 21:22 Poking Your Nose Into Other People’s Business

Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” John 21:22

Putting their noses into another person’s business is a common problem that many people have. Sometimes it is done to be able to control another person. Often it is done out of jealousy.

Most people want every thing to be fair and equal to every one, especially when it involves themselves in the comparison. When things do not appear to be fair and equal, people see it and jealousy often arises.

Jesus had just told Peter to feed His sheep, if he loved Him. Peter then asked about John. Jesus said He could keep him alive until He returns, but it has nothing to do with Peter.

Men and women in the church are no different than people outside the church. Many are often ‘concerned’ about another person getting something that they did not get. It is an undercover for the feeling of jealousy.

They will poke their nose into the business of others to see what they are getting they are not getting. Or why one person gets a blessing from God, while another does not. Some will question God as to His choices on handing out of blessings.

How God is blessing another person is of no real concern to any other person, unless one is willing to give God the glory for the blessing. Believers should rejoice when they see someone else being blessed.

Along with that, believers should accept their assignment from God. There should be no jealousy as to what God gives as an assignment to another person. God works with each person differently, but in the same way in guiding that person in the best way possible for his life.

As you go through life, you will see God bless others or give certain jobs to that you will not get. When you see these things, do not allow yourself to become jealous about it.

Give God all the glory and praise for what He is doing in another person’s life. While doing that, you can focus on what God is doing in your own life. Be more concerned about what God is telling you to do and how He is blessing you.

Don’t poke your nose into the business of others when it does no good.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know what God is calling you to do; that you will focus on what God is saying to you; and that you will not be jealous of what God is doing in and for others.

  1. Your passage reminds me of a bible verse in Mathew
Matthew 7:1 Be not judges of others, and you will not be judged. 2 For as you have been judging, so you will be judged, and with your measure will it be measured to you. 3 And why do you take note of the grain of dust in your brother’s eye, but take no note of the bit of wood which is in your eye?

      1. It is. We often forget that we ourselves aren’t perfect in anyway yet we tend to judge others for the way they are. It is the sad reality of mankind.
