Acts 4:19 Who To Listen To

But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes; to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges!” Acts 4:19

Everywhere a person goes, someone is telling him what is allowed to be done and what cannot be done. While most rules are done for the good of most people and should be followed, there can be rules made that are not the best.

Peter and John had been preaching in public and were arrested. They were told not to preach. Peter and John asked who they were to listen to, God or the leaders.

The world, as a whole, does not like to hear the gospel message being told. The message points out that they are wrong and in sin. No one wants to be told that he is wrong.

People and governments will do what they can to separate and silence believers. Groups are saying that believers must accept and promote alternate lifestyles. In this time of COVID, many people are being told that they cannot gather to worship God or talk about God. Many other things are being told to believers to silence them.

Some of the world has even infiltrated the church as leaders and promote the lies of the world.

Every believer must make a choice as to who he will listen to. Jesus told believers to go and make disciples, to preach the gospel message everywhere, to lay hands on people and pray for healing.

If a person is listening to the world, he will not be allowed to do any of these things and more. Disobeying the world, in order to obey God, may result in an arrest or worse, but will also result in an eternal prize.

It will always be better to obey God’s eternal, life giving rules, than to obey man’s death bringing rules.

As you go through your days, there will be times that the world will try to get you to do things that go against God. Sometimes the consequences of not following the ways of the world may result in persecution or arrest.

You have to make a choice as to who you will listen to and obey. If you choose to listen to the world, you are choosing the path leading to death. If you choose to listen to God, you are choosing the path to eternal life.

Make your choice today.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will choose to obey God’s word; that God will give you boldness to obey Him over the world; and that you will be God’s witness everywhere you go.
