Matthew 26:15 The Price To Sell Out

and asked, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver him over to you?” So they counted out for him thirty pieces of silver. Matthew 26:15

Most people do not want to sell things that they value. They want to hold on to them. However, if someone comes in willing to pay a high enough price, many will then consider selling the item, and many will sell it.

The things of value can be physical or non-physical things. Emotions and actions are often bought out for a price. The price is different for each person.

The chief priests were looking for a way to destroy Jesus. All they needed was someone to betray Him. Judas was willing to betray Jesus for thirty pieces of silver.

Very few people want to believe that they would be a traitor as Judas was and sell out so cheaply. Yet the truth is that many people sell out to sin every day. A little pressure comes upon them or the the thirty pieces of momentary pleasure are offered, causing them to sell out to the devil and sin.

Each and every time a believer chooses to sin, he is betraying Jesus. He is giving in to the temporary, selfish desires of sin against God, that placed Jesus upon the cross.

Jesus had every opportunity offered Him to back down and sell out as He was headed to the cross, but He did not. He went all the way to the cross to bring life to every person who will believe.

Knowing this, every believer must also be willing to go to their cross and crucify the sin and temptations in their life. The believer must decide in his heart that he will not sell out to sin against God for any price that is offered.

Every day you will be offered silver to betray Jesus in some way, whether in word, in the heart or in an action. Satan and the world wants you to be willing to sell out against God and compromise your stand and witness.

You have to make a choice that there is no price high enough to sell out. At what price will you take to die and go into eternal punishment? That is what selling out to this world will cost you.

Jesus has made a way to not sell out. He is able to give you eternal life, worth more than all this world can offer.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will seek God for strength to turn from temptation; that you will know the value of the life Jesus is giving you; and that you will not sell out to sin.
