Matthew 7:15 Watch Out!

Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ferocious wolves. Matthew 7:15

Seeing a person on the surface does not always reveal who they really are as a person. Many people love some actor or actress because they appear to be a wonderful father or husband, or some great person. This is usually seen by a character that they portray in a movie or television show.

While they appear to be good, this is just acting, it is not always the real person. All that is being seen is the outward surface, not the inner character.

Jesus warns of false prophets. These false prophets appear to be safe, but are dangerous, ferocious wolves.

It is easy for a person to talk a good talk, while inwardly seeking to destroy someone. Those who harm children will often talk nicely to them and offer good gifts, until they do serious damage.

Inside the church there are also many who are false. They know all the bible verses, can sing all the songs and know the doctrine, but alongside of all that teach things not of God. The false teachings sound good on the surface, but are just slightly off from what the bible truly says. Words are spoken with false, selfish motives to infiltrate and destroy.

Currently it is easy to find churches that promote sinful activities as acceptable. These are taught under the concept that God loves everyone, thus accepts sin.

The true believer must know what God’s word says and be alert for false teaching. Each person must be careful in what he says and does. Everything must be said or done through the lens of the bible. Only in this way will the lies be seen and recognized.

As a believer, you will hear many teachings and sermons. When you hear some teaching, you must take the time to check what you heard with the entire word of God. Do not take things only on the surface.

Allow God’s Holy Spirit to lead and guide you. He can open your eyes to see deception and reveal false prophets. You can know them by their fruit.

In the same way, seek to know God’s word correctly for yourself. Be careful to not speak God’s word out of context and become a false prophet yourself. Watch out for others and yourself in being false prophets.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know and understand God’s word; that you will be guided by the Holy Spirit; and that God will open your spiritual eyes to recognize false teachings.

  1. The depth of falsehood in people is so deceiving. False prophets deceive themselves and then it’s easy to deceive others. I think it’s a major M.O. of the enemy

    1. So very true. The difficult part is that there are many times the deception is just a shade off of the truth. It can be filled with 90% truth and 10% false, deceiving people.
