Micah 6:3 What Has God Done?

Heavy load

“My people, what have I done to you? How have I burdened you? Answer me. Micah 6:3

It is often heard of bosses who place heavy burdens upon their workers. They will have one worker who is very good at following orders all the time, so the boss will load an overload of work upon him. It will often be more than should be expected or was agreed upon in the hiring process.

This can be done to lightened the head manager’s workload. Or it can be done to shirk responsibility, or to take advantage of someone’s work ethic. Regardless of why it is done, it often makes the work of the worker very difficult.

God asks the people the question of how He has been a burden to them. God expected an answer.

Many people feel as though God asks too much of them. They feel as though what God is asking of them is a heavy and difficult burden.

The burden that God puts upon all who follow Him is actually very light. All He requires is that people love Him with everything in them, obey Him, and love everyone else.

People often get hung up on the ‘obey’ part. They say that there are too many rules. There are not that many rules, if fact, only two–love God and love others.

For both of these rules God also gives one His Holy Spirit to guide him and give him strength to accomplish what needs to be done to obey God and love others. All loving others comes down to is being a witness of who Jesus is in whatever method is available at the moment–speaking, helping, guiding, loving, correcting etc.

God does not put a heavy burden upon His people. People make it heavy, so they can’t do it or won’t do it.

There may be times when you feel God is giving you a heavy burden, more than you can handle. That is good, now release yourself to God and allow Him to work through you to accomplish that burden. Lean on His strength to do what needs to be done.

Everyday work on the job Jesus started–to seek and save those who are lost. As you do God’s work, you will find fulfillment, strength and rest. God will meet all of your needs. God’s work is not a heavy burden, but a fulfilling one as you see others come to Jesus.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the work God as for you to do; that you will rely upon God’s Holy Spirit to give you wisdom, direction, strength and rest; and that you will do the light work God has called you to do.
