Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples. For great is his love toward us and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord. Psalm 117:1-2
Finding true love in this world is difficult. Finding true faithfulness in this world is difficult. Finding one with true love and true faithfulness together is nearly impossible.
The number one problem with finding true love is that the majority of people tend to be selfish. Everything is about self with very little regard to others. They will love others as they are benefiting, but as soon as it seriously costs to love, they stop.
The same problem is found in finding faithfulness. People will remain faithful, until it does not benefit them or they see something better.
In this psalm, the writer tells the people to praise the Lord and lift Him up. The reason is because of His great love and enduring faithfulness.
Perfect love and faithfulness is only found in Jesus and His Father, God. Jesus shows His love by giving up His life on a cross for people who either did not know Him or hated Him. He did not die for those who loved Him. Jesus did not receive any benefit in Himself for dying for people.
Jesus also has enduring faithfulness. He continues to remain faithful to love everyone. This ‘everyone’ includes not only those who follow Him, but also His enemies. He also remains faithful in holding together this universe He has created so that man may live on this earth.
God is always there for those who seek Him. He will always love everyone, no matter what they have done or are doing.
Knowing this gives a person a reason to praise Him and lift Him up. There is no one who deserves greater praise than God.
Look into God’s great love that He has for you as shown in what Jesus has done for you. Realize how faithful Jesus has been to you over the years.
Let God’s love wash over you and overwhelm you as you realize how much of a filthy sinner you were or are and, yet, He still loves you. Notice how Jesus has removed all of your sins and will remain faithful to continue to do so.
Follow hard after Jesus and give Him the praise that is due Him. Let the world know of His great love and faithfulness. Broadcast His praises aloud for all to hear. Praise the Lord!
I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you know God’s perfect love for you; that you will know God’s everlasting faithfulness to you; and that you will praise God all the days of your life.
