Psalm 113:1 Praising While Serving

Praising God in a field

Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, you his servants; praise the name of the Lord. Psalm 113:1

When working for someone, most people do not give praise to the one they are working for. It is more common to hear complaints about the boss, then praise and honoring. Faults in a person can easily be found and people are quick to point them out.

Some will give their boss praise, but then will complain about the work that needs to be done. Fault with what needs to be done is easily found. The worker often thinks he knows a better way or does not understand why it has to be done a certain way.

The reason many don’t give much praise, is that they see everything as about themselves, rather than others.

The author of this psalm tells the people to praise the Lord. He specifically calls the servants of God to praise the Lord.

Every believer is to be a servant of God. He is to serve God in whatever He needs when He needs it and how He needs it. God has become the boss of the believer.

God is willing to direct a person’s life as to how to live for Him and serve him. Unlike the bosses of this world, He does it out of perfect love and wisdom. He knows what is the best job for a person to do and the best way for him to do it.

While a believer is doing his job for the Lord, serving the Lord, he must also praise the Lord. God is worthy of all praise and honor.

God is the only boss who has laid down His life for His servants. He redeemed His servants from a judgement of death and punishment. He is worthy of all praise.

Take a moment to think about what Jesus has done for you. Think about how much Jesus suffered for you to give you eternal life and forgiveness.

As you see these things it will make it easier to serve God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength. While you are working hard at serving God with all of your life, give Him praise.

Let God know how great He is. Let the world know how great God is. Honor God as you do what He asks of you, regardless of how easy or difficult it is.

Praise the Lord today.

I pray today that you will serve God with all of your life; that you will be a true servant of God; that you will sing praises to God; that you will tell others of what Jesus has done; and that you will praise God as you serve Him.
