Deuteronomy 4:9 Don’t Forget

Forget me not flower

Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teacher them to your children and to their children after them. Deuteronomy 4:9

Remembering things is something that is needed to be done. It helps remind a person where he has come from and things he should or should not do. Looking back on one’s life will help one see the choices that were made, some that were disastrous and others that were successful.

Over time, there has been groups of people who strive to deny things that occurred in the past. They try to deny or ignore things that were negative in their lives. There are people who try to deny the holocaust or the slavery done in America. They try to rewrite the history books to deny these things.

Since Jesus walked on the earth, there are many who try to deny Jesus. Since the beginning of mankind, there are people who work hard to deny the existence of God.

God told the Israelites to be careful to remember everything that they had seen. Not only were they to remember them, but they were to pass the stories on to their children and grandchildren.

Every believer will have stories to tell of God’s provision or hand in their lives. Many will begin to forget about what God had done, when things get tough in life. Those who do remember, will find strength and hope in God, because they remember how God has already met a need in the past.

Forgetting the things God has done opens the door to doubt and fear. Many believers fear things happening, because they forget what God has already done and can do.

Take time to think about all the things God has done for you in your life. Take time to share that information with family and friends. Do not allow yourself to forget how God has worked in your life.

When the time comes that you are going to go through a tough time, and it will come, stop and take the time to remember how God has helped in the past. This will give you hope for your future. It will remove the fear of the situation, because you will see God is still at work in your life.

Don’t forget what God has done!

I pray today that you will remember the work of God in your life; that you will share what God has already done for you; that God will remove fear of difficult times; and that many will come to God through your testimony of His work in your life.
