Leviticus 11:43 Stay Clean

Do not defile yourselves by any of these creatures. Do not make yourselves unclean by means of them or be made unclean by them. Leviticus 11:43

Being clean is something that most people strive to do. When a person gets done working hard and has been made dirty, he is quick to take a shower and clean the dirt off. He does not want to be found dirty around others.

Though the concept of being physically clean, there is another type of clean that most people ignore. That type of clean is being spiritually clean. Every person is born into a world of sin and quickly adapts to the sinful ways of the world.

As God was giving Moses the directions on what to do to worship Him and how to be holy, one of the things stated was staying away from some animals that can cause defilement. God had listed groups of animals that a person was not to eat or even touch because they would defile the person and make him dirty.

Although with the coming of Jesus the defilement of animals was erased, there are many other things or ways that a person must not defile his body with. These things are not so much physical as they are spiritual things.

For the believer in a fallen world, it is easy to get defiled with sinful things of this world. Going through life day by day he will always come in contact with sin. If he is not careful, he will take a part in the sin and become unclean.

Sin shows up in how people talk, act, react, see and think. Walking down the street, turning on a tv, walking among the world are just a few ways that a person can be swayed to touch something sinful. The world wants the believer to join them in sin and be made unclean.

Every day you will be tempted to defile yourself before God. While the world will choose to be unclean, you must keep yourself clean from all sin. Turn away from sin and do not even touch it in any way. Do not set yourself up to be tempted to sin.

Jesus cleansed you from all sin with His death upon the cross. He made you clean before God. Don’t go back into sin and become dirty again. Do not defile yourselves by touching the sin of this world.

I pray today that you will know the cleansing of sin by Jesus; that you will not touch anything sinful in this world; that you will focus your life upon God; and that you will be holy in God’s sight through the power of Jesus.
