Exodus 10:3 Refusing To Be Humble

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him, “This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, so that they may worship me.’ Exodus 10:3

Humility is putting other people before one’s own self. It is allowing someone else to be above self. The world does not believe in humility. Starting with Satan and going through every person, life has always been about self. Man wants to be in absolute control of every area of his own life. He wants to be the one who sits on the throne of authority.

People want to receive the honor and praise for everything that happens. This even includes many who are in the church. Pride is allowed to be a part of the life of a person, pushing God back or completely out of the picture.

God asked Pharaoh how long he would refuse to humble himself before Him. Pharaoh believed that he was the one in control and even above God, Himself. He refused to let the people go, even though God was proving over and over that He had the true authority and power over Pharaoh and his people.

There are many believers who are also guilty of not humbling themselves before God. They feel as though they are the ones in control. It is all about their ministry, their work, their power, their authority and God is not allowed to be on the throne. In word, they say that God is the King and in control, but in reality, it is all about how they look to others. It is about self.

Humbling yourself means that you will allow God to be the one in control of your life. It means you know that in yourself, you have no control or power. The only control you have is humbling yourself and letting God have the control.

Do not be like Pharaoh and allow the sin of self-pride to rule your life. God had to crush both Pharaoh and all of Egypt to get them to realize that He was in control. As with Pharaoh, it is not about you, but about God and others.

Who are you putting on the throne of your life? Is it God? Or is it yourself?

Humble yourself before God today and let Him be God of your life.

I pray today that you will know the authority God has; that you will humble yourself before God; that you will let God rule your life; and that you will point all people towards God and not towards yourself.
