Exodus 3:21 God’s Promise To Leave Egypt

“And I will make the Egyptians favorably disposed toward this people so that when you leave you will not go empty-handed. Exodus 3:21

Waiting for a promise to be fulfilled can be a difficult time for a person. During the waiting time it can be even more difficult when the person who made the promise appears to let things go even worse. It appears as if the promise will not or cannot be fulfilled.

A person promises to pay back some money that is owed. Instead of paying it back, the person borrows even more money, causing more problems and fear that the money will never be paid back.

Believers in God have read or heard many promises of God. Often people are prophesized over about something to come in their life. As they are waiting for God’s promises to come to pass, there is much trouble. During that time of trouble, they begin to doubt the promise, or get angry with God, because the promise has not been fulfilled.

The Israelites have been in captivity in Egypt for four hundred years. They had forgotten the promises God had made to make them into a great nation. However, they cry out to God for relief. God promises that He will bring them out of Egypt.

Yet, before He does, there is a lot of problems. Pharaoh does not immediately let the leave, and even makes life harder for them. After a series of ten plagues upon Egypt, they are finally released.

God had to bring the hardship upon Egypt, which in turn brought hardship upon the Israelites in order to get them the needed favor when they were released. The hardship on Egypt would be so great that when they did allow the people to leave, they gave them everything they needed as they left.

As a believer, you may have been given or read of a promise of God. As you wait for the promise to be fulfilled, things may get worse. It appears as if God forgot His promise. He did not forget. He is setting everything up to fulfill that promise in the best way possible.

When you leave this earth to receive your ultimate reward, it will be the greatest reward ever. God will answer His promise to you. Be patient and He will give you favor. The world will have to pay you back in the end.

Today I pray that you will know the promises of God in your life; that you will trust God’s promise to you; that you will wait for His timing to fulfill the promise; and that God will give you strength as you wait for the promise.
