Genesis 8:1 God Remembers

But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded. Genesis 8:1

Large storms can be something that is scary to go through. The amount of damage a storm can bring, can be tremendous if the storm is big enough.

As a person is going through a major storm, he can hear the loud roaring winds, the cracking of thunder, the roar of the rain beating down on the house, the noise of the running water off of the house, and the creaking of the house and trees in the great winds. It can be nerve wracking hearing these noises and knowing what the possible damage could be or become.

In the personal life of a person, God has also allowed other types of storms one’s life. These storms can be physical ailments, financial difficulties, marital problems, abuse, persecution, and more. During these storms, it can feel as if God has forgotten the person or abandoned him.

Those who are believers in Jesus and strive to follow God may also feel as though God has left them and forgotten all about them and what is going on. It feels as though the storm in life will never end and that all that will be left is death, pain and suffering.

Yet, God has not forgotten. Just as He did not forget about Noah and the animals on the ark, He will not forget His people in a storm. Once the storm has accomplished its purpose, God will calm the storm. He will restore things and build things up.

The purpose of the flood was to destroy sin and get the people to focus back on God. In life, you may be going through a storm. God may be trying to get your attention, or as with Job, He may be trying to prove your faith in Him. Either way, He has not forgotten you. He still remembers you and will preserve you and save you.

As you travel through a storm in this life, know that God is right there with you. Know that God will save you in the end. Ask God what you need to do or learn through this storm. And give Him praise through it all. God has not, nor will ever forget you.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that God will remove fears of storms in this life; that you will know God’s presence in your life; and that you will trust God will remember you always.
