Genesis 3:12 Blaming Others

The man said, “The woman you put here with me–she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.” Genesis 3:12

When God created Adam and Eve and put them in the Garden of Eden, He told them that they could eat of any trees except for one. Eve allowed the snake to deceive her and Adam allowed Eve to deceive him. Both ate of the fruit by their own choice.

Later when God found them, Adam blamed Eve for breaking the rule, and Eve blamed the snake. Neither one accepted responsibility for what they had chosen to do.

Blaming others for something done wrong has not changed over the centuries. People are constantly blaming others for what their own personal actions. Children blame friends or siblings for wrongs that they chose to do. Adults are no different from the children. They blame their parents for reasons as to why they chose to do wrong later in life. Adults will also blame society, the government, neighborhood, employer, the economy, and nearly anything else as to why they choose to do wrong.

The devil is still in the business to deceive people. He wants every person to choose to do wrong against God. However, it is still the choice of the individual. No one, nor the devil, can make a person do something without their consent.

Believers must always be willing to choose God’s path in their life. Then when they do make a mistake and follow the ways of this world, they must also admit their mistake. They cannot blame someone else.

In the end when a person stands before God at the judgment seat, God will not accept blaming someone else for the sin. It is a personal choice to sin.

The temptation to sin may be very high at times in your life. The pressure to go against God may very great. Yet, you have a choice to make in the end.

Then if you do make the wrong choice, you also have one who you can go to for forgiveness. Go to Jesus, admit your sin, and seek His forgiveness. God is always ready to forgive, but you must be willing to admit the sin and seek that forgiveness. God does not forgive without repentance.

Do not try to blame others for your actions. Take responsibility for your actions and sin, and seek God for forgiveness.

I pray today that God will open your eyes to deception; that you will turn to God during times of temptation; that you will take responsibility for your own sins before God; and that you will repent of your sins to God.
