Revelation 6:16 A Day Of Wrath

Child hiding

They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!” Revelation 6:16

People always try to avoid the extreme anger of someone else. When a person is extremely angry, anything can happen.

This fear of someone can often be seen in little children with a parent. There have been parents who show extreme wrath upon a child that has done something wrong. The parent may yell, scream, and strike the child in his anger against something done wrong. The child grows up in extreme fear of the parent and is always trying to hide from him.

Various people, even as adults have also shown extreme wrath against others because of something that was done wrong to them. These people are also avoided. When a person is going on a shooting rampage in anger in a public place, people are running and hiding anywhere they can to keep from being hit.

John sees a vision of a coming time when many people will be running and trying to hide from God. Jesus will come back to judge this world. He will unleash His anger and wrath against sin and those who refuse to follow Him. At that time, the world will realize how great God is and how powerful He is.

The God who created the heavens and the earth will be coming with a vengeance and wrath to destroy those against Him. Those in this world, who do not serve Him, will have a reason to be fearful. He will be greater and more powerful than any person that has ever been angry before. Yet, there will be no place for them to hide.

To avoid His wrath, all a person must do is follow Jesus and love God with all their heart, mind and soul. God must be first in the life of a person.

If you are a follower of Jesus, you will have nothing to fear from God. If you are not a follower of Jesus, you have everything to fear from God. God will have His day of vengeance.

God will only strike at those who refuse to follow His Son. Those who follow Jesus, will be protected and brought into heaven.

Are you living in a way that you will have to fear God?

Or are you living for Him?

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will live for God; that you will serve God with all of your life; and that you will not have to fear God’s wrath against you.

  1. You seem to mix two Biblical characters: Jehovah God and Jeshua (Jesus Christ), the son of God. It will be Jesus who shall return to judge the living and the dead.

    1. You are correct in that it is Jesus who does the actual judging. I do understand the difference of Jesus and God the Father. I was just using God as the term to use for who is giving the wrath, not necessarily the Father or the Son in particular. I used God because Jesus is also God, just not the Father. Thank you for reading and the clarification of understanding.

      1. When you believe Jesus is Gdo, do you not believe that God knows everything and can do everything, plus that God is an eternal Spirit no man can see (according to His own Words)?

      2. I do believe that God is Spirit and that no one can see Him, but I also believe that Jesus is God in body form. Jesus accepted worship from man. Only God can receive worship. This makes Jesus God. If He was not God, then He was blaspheming by accepting worship. We cannot see God the Father, but we can see God the Son–Jesus.

      3. It is not that the people worshipped Him, but that He accepted worship. Only God can accept worship. If Jesus were not God, He would be blasphemous for accepting the worship.

Another thought is that only God can forgive sins, yet Jesus forgave sins. The leaders were angry because they saw this as He was claiming to be God. They killed Jesus for blasphemy.

      4. Please read John 1. It says that God is the Word and that He was in the beginning and everything was made by Him. Then it states that the Word became flesh and lived among us. That is Jesus. Jesus is God, not the Father, but God. This is the concept of the Trinity.

      5. the opening verse of John’s gospel is by many trinitarians given to proof Jesus would be God. Clearly they do not seem to have a clue how John wanted to write in the trend of the Genesis book of Moses, looking how God spoke and everything came into being. For the apostle John it is clear we with the Nazarene prophet and rebbe Jeshua (Jesus Christ) is the beginning of the New World Jesus being the one spoken of in the Garden of Eden having become a reality in the flesh, and as such The Word of God (His Speaking) having become in the flesh (or having become a reality).

      6. I cannot agree with you. It says that the word is God, not just His voice speaking. It also says He became flesh. Jesus said that He IS life. Only God is life. Jesus also said that He was before Abraham. Only God can make that statement. And the people were angry with Him for claiming to be God. Was Jesus a liar or a lunatic?

      7. God according to the Scriptures is no liar and knows everything. In case Jesus is God Who knows everything he lied many times. that would than mean you have a god telling lots of lies.

      8. What about
John 14:28 American Standard Version (ASV)

28 Ye heard how I said to you, I go away, and I come unto you. If ye loved me, ye would have rejoiced, because I go unto the Father: for the Father is greater than I.

      9. He also said that He and the Father are one. That is the mystery of the trinity. One God with three beings. All just One yet separate at the same time.
John 1:10 says the world was created by Jesus. Genesis says it was created by God. Jesus is God, but not the Father nor the Holy Spirit. Jesus has to go back to the Father in heaven to prepare a place for believers with His Father.

      10. When Jesus is God we human beings do not have a proof that man can come out of the dead. So your god does take away all our hope for a resurrection.
You probably also teach that he is an incredible hateful god who let his children burn in an eternal fire (hell), like so many trinitarian preachers want their flock to believe. Though the bible speaks of a merciful God full of lovingkindness. But when Jesus, who as God would have known when he would return and who would be sitting next to him in the Kingdom of God, we can not find it an act of love to keep that important day of the 3rd World War or Armageddon hidden.

      11. I do believe God is a merciful God who will save babies, but I also believe He could cast them out also. It is His sovereign choice.
Jesus is both 100% man and 100% God at the same time. He gives us hope of resurrection and life after death. He set aside His God-head to be man on this earth. Because He lives a perfect sinless life death could not hold Him and He arose from the dead.
