And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8

All over the world there are people who have accumulated many things. Some have accumulated large dollar amount items, with extreme wealth, while others just accumulate lower cost items. In most of the cases, both the wealthy and the not so wealthy, the items are accumulated for self.

The world looks at one being successful by measuring the amount of items that has been accumulated over time. The more a person has, the better he is.

Having things is not a problem, however, they become a problem when they are only used for one’s own self.

This type of problem can occur among believers also. God is a God who loves to be generous and pour out many blessings of provision. He does not pour out just enough for what a person needs, but abundantly more than what is needed.

There is a purpose in God’s being generous. That purpose is so that the person receiving can pour out generously into someone else’s life. God helps the believer, so that the believer can help someone else, not so that he can hoard it all to himself.

All the things that a person can accumulate in this world, cars, money, houses, clothes, will only last for a short time. They are temporary. However, during this short time on life, those things can be used to help meet the needs of other people, both believers and non-believers.

Paul had just talked about a believer needs to be a cheerful, generous giver. This is so that God can continue to bless the believer with more, because He knows that believer will in turn bless someone else with what he has.

God is giving you everything that you have so that you can meet the needs of others as He meets your needs. God can meet all of your needs in miraculous ways of His own provision or through others as you are generous with what He has blessed you with.

As you meet the needs of others, you are abounding in every good work. You are showing God’s love to others, both believers and those of this world.

Do not allow yourself to become stingy with what God has given you, pass it on to others.

I pray today that you will see what God has blessed you with; that God will show you ways to meet the needs of others; that you will see God’s abundant provision; and that God will help you abound in every good work.
