Isaiah 46:4 Who Sustains You?

Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. Isaiah 46:4

Everyday most people will eat several meals a day to keep going. The amount of food that a person eats is usually different for each person. A lot of it depends upon how active the person is and what his activity is.

The football player during football season will eat a very large amount of food. He needs to be able to sustain his muscles and strength during the rigorous training or games. The person who works in an office at a computer desk, will eat very little to sustain his energy. He is exerting very little physical energy, while exerting a lot more mental energy. The sustenance is found through the type and amount of food being eaten.

Going through life can be very challenging. At times a person may wonder how he will ever make it through some tough situation that has come upon him. People look to many different things to give them the strength to keep going. Some of these things may be alcohol, smoking, other people, drugs, more things to do, medicine, spending money, and the list is endless.

Israel had been going through some very tough times, yet God says it was He who made them and will sustain them through it all.

As a believer, God is the One who will sustain you. He has the power and the ability to hold you together when things are going rough. Allow God to pick you up and carry you through the storms of this life.

This does not mean there will be no storms or problems in this life, it just means He will carry you through it all. God is the one who will rescue you from all troubles.

There will be a day when God calls you home to heaven for all eternity with no more sorrow, pain, suffering or death. Until that day, He will hold you and sustain you. God is the nourishment that you need to keep your energy up for this life. Hold onto Him and trust Him.

I pray today that you will know God’s presence in your life; that you will know God is carrying you; that you will eat of God’s Word; and that you will be strengthened by His Holy Spirit for the struggles of this life.

  1. I really relate to the word “sustain” as my family has been through many hard times. Every Morning I am in the habit of meeting with God, reading the Word and having heart to heart talks with my creator. My closeness to Jesus through the years has been a reservoir of Gods Grace “sustaining” through the hardest of times. Thank you for the encouragement Tom

    1. Praise the Lord, Gary! I have some of the same experiences. I often look back on my life and see the hand of God having brought me through many situations. And just when I get through one, there is often another right behind it. God is always there helping and guiding.

    1. Amen Christine! I agree with you on being through so much that it has to have been God sustaining me also. What He has begun, He will continue to do until completed.
Thank you for reading and the encouraging words. Have a blessed day in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
