Psalm 63:5 Fully Satisfied

I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. Psalm 63:5

Everyone loves to eat, especially when it is good food. Each person has his own favorite food, that food that is considered worth dying for. For some people is a large steak, or Chinese food, or a hamburger, or some type of salad, or a desert. It is that food that a person will eat no matter how full he is, or how bad it is for them. Then after eating it, he will rave about it to everyone. They are fully satisfied with the food.

David is talking about enjoying God as much as many people enjoy those certain foods. When he spent time with God, he was completely satisfied and did not need anything more from anyone or anywhere else.

Most people are looking for satisfaction in things of this world. They try out different foods, entertainments, jobs, houses, drugs, spouses, and the list goes on. All of these things are temporary and cannot give complete satisfaction. They wear out, break down, and leave.

Only God can give complete satisfaction for a man’s soul. The only way a person can know that satisfaction is trying God out. Getting into God’s word and hiding it in the heart will help a person get to know God more. Spending time praying to and listening to God will go a long way in knowing God.

The more you get to know God, the more you will want to know about God. The more time you spend with Him, the more time you will want to spend with Him.

As you get to know God and spend time with Him, you will realize that you can be fully satisfied with Him. He will meet your every need and longing. Only God can bring peace and comfort in pain. Only God can bring companionship in loneliness.

As He does these things for you, give Him praise. Sing out loud the praises of God. Tell others what God is doing for you. Let the world know the satisfaction that God brings to you.

Who or what fully satisfies you today?

I pray today that you will know God more; that you will find complete satisfaction in knowing God; that you will sing praises to God; and that you will tell others of Jesus.

  1. Hey Tom, this is a great post full of straightforward truth. Thanks for reminding me to find my satisfaction in the Lord more than anything (or anyone) else today… it’s a constant struggle, but one God is helping me (slowly) win!

    1. Bryan, I think we are all working on learning that, at least I know I am constantly having to work at it.
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. Have a blessed day!
