Deuteronomy 1:42 Don’t Go Without God

But the LORD said to me, “Tell them, ‘Do not go up and fight, because I will not be with you. You will be defeated by your enemies.’ ” Deuteronomy 1:42

God had sent spies into the land of  the Moabites. After viewing it, the people refused to go in and take the land, God told the people that every person would die in the desert except Caleb and Joshua. Once the people heard that, they realized that they had sinned against God and decided to go into the land. God tells them not to go because He will not be with them. They do go and are beaten down.

There will come a day when God tells you to do something or go somewhere. When He does tell you something like that it is imperative that you do what He tells you. At that point God is with you. He will never tell you to go somewhere where He will not be.

Many times, however, people choose not to do what God says to do. They choose a different direction to go. God then gets angry with them for not following the instructions given. The path they go on becomes difficult, so they decide to go back onto the path God had originally planned for them.

Often that path is closed off. Since it was not taken at the right time, it is no longer an option. God will tell the person to stop going that way because He is not going that direction.

You never want to walk in a direction that God is not going in. When you do, that means you are trying to do it alone. When you are without God the enemy will strike you and win the battle. You can only win the battles when God is with you.

Where are you walking today?

Is it with God at your side or in front of  you leading you?

Or is it out on your own?

I pray today that you will follow God’s leading the first time, every time; that you will trust in God’s leading; that you will not fear the enemy when God is with you; and that you will not stray off the path God has for you in rebellion or fear.
