“When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD.” Exodus 34:29
Moses had spent some time in the presence of God at the top of Mount Sinai. While there God had spoken with him and gave him all the rules and regulations that He required the people to follow. When Moses had come down from the mountain his face was shining from being in the presence of God. The people were actually afraid of him because it was so different.
People get overwhelmed and excited when they get to meet a famous person or someone in very high position. For several days they will be excited and telling everyone they meet about their meeting. Selfies will be posted in many different social media formats. For years they will talk about who they got to meet.
Being in the presence of God will always make a change in a person’s life. Think about this: He is the great Almighty God who created everything that was, and is, and is to come. Think about the power and majesty He has.
As a believer you get to spend personal time in God’s presence. You can do this everyday, anytime of the day, year round. Sitting at the feet of Jesus in prayer or worship will keep you close to God at all times. It will change your life.
When you walk away from a time of being in God’s presence, other people should see a difference in you. Most will probably not know why there is a difference. The world will be a little alarmed at the difference and may think you are crazy. Other believers may not even understand it.
Regardless of who understands or accepts it, you must strive to walk in God’s presence. Allow His presence to flow in your life so closely that others will see a difference in you. If they do not see that, maybe you need to spend some more time with God.
Are you shining with the love and light of God’s presence in your life?
Or have you let His light dim down or even go out?
I pray today that you will spend more time in God’s presence; that you take time to pray and worship God throughout your day; that others will see that you have been with God; that others will see your walk with God; and that many will be drawn to Jesus through you life.
I love Acts 4:13 – “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.”
There was nothing in these men that would make them appear special but even their enemies could recognise that they had been with Jesus. I pray that people can recognise that I have been with Jesus.
Amen. And may we realize that God can use us who are just ordinary simple men and women.
