Exodus 33:15-16 God’s Presence Required

“Then Moses said to him, If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?” Exodus 33:15-16

While Moses was up on the mountain getting instructions from God the people had turned to an idol for worship. God was ready to destroy all of the people. However, Moses stood in the gap and sought God to not destroy the people.

God chose to send the people into Canaan, but said He would not go with them because He may choose to destroy them because of their stubborn hearts. Moses said that he did not want to go anywhere if God’s presence was not with them. He points out that it was His presence that made the difference between them and the rest of the world.

Many people go through life just living life, but not really LIVING life. They strive to do everything on their own. Until something goes wrong, most people do not seek God’s direction and help. They then wonder why things do not seem to go correctly at all.

God needs to be the center of your life. You need to ensure that God is with you in all that you do. Do not run ahead of God, or walk behind God. You must keep God at your side at all times. Ensure that you are walking with God’s presence in your life.

The presence of God in your life is what makes the difference between you and the rest of the world. God will make your life shine in a way that will make it stand out as different. If your life is not different, why should anyone want to follow Jesus? Why would they want to give up anything to follow Him?

Allow God’s presence to be in your life to make a difference in this world. Do not go anywhere or do anything without Him being in it. It will change the world around you.

I pray today that you will know God’s presence in your life; that you will seek God in all that you do; that others will know God is with you; and that many will come to Jesus because of your walk with God.

  1. Oh how I wish I was more prepared to wait for God to not only go with me, but to be leading me in the places I go. We can ‘go to’ many good places in life but unless God is with us, through his son Jesus, they are not the best places.
