Exodus 3:4 A Divine Appointment

“When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, ‘Moses! Moses!’ And Moses said, Here I am.” Exodus 3:4

Moses had been taking care of some sheep in the mountains. As he was walking along he saw a bush that was burning, yet was not burning up. He decides to go and look at this, it was not something he had seen before. As he goes up to it, God calls out to him. Moses answers with a simple “Here I am”.

It would be easy to say that it was easy for Moses to hear God speak. He was alone with just a bunch of sheep in the wilderness. There was no one else there or any cell phone to distract him.

Although he was alone, that does not mean Moses could not have been distracted. He had to be watching the sheep, paying attention to them. A sheep may have been starting to wander off, another may have been sick, or a predator may have been about to come into the area. Any of these, and many other possibilities, may have happened if he took his attention off the sheep.

Yet, nothing happened other than he heard from God and he answered God.

Many people get so busy with life chasing after things of this life, that they miss seeing the amazing burning bush right next to them, and they do not hear God calling them. This is the very thing that the devil wants to happen. He wants you to be so busy you miss out on a meeting with God. You miss an appointment with God.

God is always working with you and around you. You need to keep your spiritual eyes open to see His work, and your spiritual ears open to hear Him.

Are you watching and listening for God?

Or are you so busy with the things of this world, or the ministry for God, that you miss your appointment with Him?

Since Moses did not miss this appointment, God had him do some of the greatest works of all time. Are you going to miss your appointment?

I pray today that you will see God at work in your life and around you; that you will hear when God calls you; that God will reveal His work for you to do; and that God will do great works in and through you.
