Ephesians 5:3 No Hint Of Sin

“But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.” Ephesians 5:3

Hints are little signs of something that is there. They are meant to point to something in a vague way, but not to be a clear indication of anything. It just shows that something is there or could be there. What they point to are supposed to be a secret and usually a surprise for another person.

Paul lists three things that there should not even be a hint of in a believer’s life. These three are: sexual immorality, impurity, and greed.

The world is open about these things. Nearly every TV show, movie, or song promote in some form or another sexual immorality. They either straight out show sexual immorality or they talk about it as though it is acceptable. Alongside of the sexual immorality is all types of impurities: lying, cheating, stealing, rudeness, disobedience, and the list goes on. Mixed with all of these is greed. People want more and more, and believe you should have it all and more.

Not having a hint of these things is a hard road to walk. Many believers do not purposely live in sexual immorality. Yet, these same ones will watch it, or tell jokes about it. These are hints. What a person watches, a person is thinking about.

Greed comes in the desire for more and more. Many believers want more in the thought that they will be able to give God more. While saying this they are not giving much of what they have, barely their tithe. Their thoughts are based in personal greed.

Take a look at your life. Are there any hints of these things in your life? What do you do? What do you think about?

Hints can pop up anywhere. If you were tried in a court that could know and see all, would you be found guilty? God sees and knows everything. Nothing is hidden from him. To Him it is not a hint but direct fact. To people they are hints. Jesus died so that you could live a holy, sinless life.

Ask God to help you remove all hints of all sin in your life. Be the holy person of God that God wants you to be and Jesus can make you.

I pray today that you will ask Jesus to remove all sin from your life; that you will turn away from all sin; that your life will be pure in Jesus; and that you will be a shining light of Jesus.
