Ephesians 2:10 Finding Purpose In Life

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

People everywhere are trying to find out their purpose in this life. This occurs from young middle school children, all the way through senior citizen adults. Everyone wants to know why they are there and what they are to do.

Various people have “found” their purpose in different things. Some find it in their workplace, others in their family, or sports, or a hobby, or education. There are some that find purpose in standing up for the rights of other people in the government systems around the world.

While many have found their purpose, there are many more who have not. Thousands of people commit suicide every year because of not having any purpose in life. They feel like their life is worthless and no one cares about them. They have not found their purpose in life.

Paul calls every person God’s handiwork. Every person was created by God. When God created a person, He did it with the thought that some day that person would follow Jesus and have a purpose in life, to do good works. God already had that person’s days laid out. There was to be meaning and purpose in life.

As a believer you can know what that purpose is. You are to ask God for wisdom in your life. This will help you know your purpose. Jesus said that He sent the Holy Spirit to guide you in your life.

God will show you the plans He has made for you. He will give you purpose and meaning to your life. It is different for each person, yet the overall purpose will always to be more like Jesus, love God, love others, and build His kingdom by being His witness.

The ways of doing these things are as numerous as the sand grains on the seashore. Use every opportunity in life to accomplish one of these areas in your life. This will give you purpose that is meaningful and eternal. The things of this world are only temporary. Don’t seek temporary purpose, but the eternal purpose in Christ Jesus.

I pray today that God will reveal to you His purpose for you for today; that you will step up to the purpose God has for you; that you will find meaning in life in Christ Jesus; and that you will be His witness daily to every person you meet.
