Luke 8:17 Secrets Exposed

“For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.” Luke 8:17

Jesus had just finished talking about sowing the seed everywhere. Now He starts talking about letting a light shine out for everyone to see. He points out that everything that is hidden will be made known.

Secrets are something everyone has. Children often have secrets that they are proud of. They will tell another child, “I have a secret that I will tell you, if you promise not to tell anyone else”.

Adults, also have many secrets, although they do not like to share them with anyone.

The secrets that many adults have are often secret sinful acts. Since the beginning of mankind, there have been secret acts that men and women have tried to hide.

Cain tried to hide the fact that he killed Abel. David tried to hide the fact of his being with Bathsheba. Today, all the time in the news you can read about a CEO getting caught for embezzlement, men/women caught cheating on their spouses, important people who had previously did drugs, and much more.

In today’s technological society, many are learning how hard it is to keep secrets. With Facebook, and Twitter, people can see or learn of something, post it, and within matter of seconds, thousands of people around the world know about it.

Jesus said everything will be exposed. Those little things you do in private, will be exposed some day. If nothing else, God sees it. If you do not willingly bring it out into the open with God and turn from it, God will eventually expose you openly.

Turn from all sin and turn to God. Let the light of God shine in and through you. When there is light in you, everything will be exposed. Allow Jesus to clean you of all dark spots in your life. Do not be exposed as dirty. Don’t try to hide any secrets from Him.

You are a witness for God. Let His light shine.

I pray today that God will shine in and through you; that you will turn away from all sin; that you will allow yourself to be open before God; that there will be no secret sins that you are trying to hide; and that God will use you to be His witness.
